NATIONAL TEAM STABLEORD 2018
On 18th & 19th July 11 teams descended on the Vale Resort, Hensol to compete in this year’s National Team Stableford sponsored by 3M/Scott Safety. The competitors were met with glorious weather and 2 difficult and challenging courses. Day 1 started on the Lakes course with all players starting on the 1st tee. Some very good play in evidence, including a exceptional par on the par 3 - 8th hole, holing the 2nd tee shot, after putting the first ball out of bounds. There was some very good scores shot on this course including 3 x 40 plus.
Later that evening everyone enjoyed a splendid meal, and some excellent entertainment with the 007 themed Casino Night, with some great prizes on offer for the top chip leaders at the end of the contest.
Day 2 was on the Wales National course having a two tee start, this course is a very different test being long and tight in certain areas. The scores on this course proved this as they plummeted, with nobody achieving par.
Although a difficult day all players seemed to enjoy the course, with special mention going to the fire fighting skills in evidence when the clubhouse caught fire and we all had to evacuate, quick thinking by our players and some handy fire extinguishers meant that after a small interruption we were able to resume our eating, drinking and presentation.
