Charity Cup Report
This years’ Charity Cup was hosted by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service at Sprowston Manor, Norwich. 23 teams from across the UK set out on the parkland course over 2 days.
Day 1 – After a morning of heavy rainfall the teams took to their tees to compete in a pairs, better-ball, Stableford format. After 18 holes of competitive golf, one team excelled with an impressive 45pts, with several teams close behind with 40pts. The top three teams only had six points between them and another 4 teams were very close behind.
Day 2 – Singles Stableford with 3 out of 4 scores to count. There were a few weary legs having to walk to some of the starting holes on this shotgun start, but the game got underway on time at 10am. Only 1 player managed to break the par of 36 points. This could have been be due to the course difficulty, player fatigue or possibly the late night socialising. The pick of the bunch was Tony Morrison of Hertfordshire with a 37 point total.
Highlights from day 2 included glorious sunny weather, a fun putting competition and a ‘double your money’ hole. All of the players entered into the spirit of the day, giving generously and enjoying the social and competitive aspects of the event.
