West Yorkshire stepped up to organise another national event at Sand Moor Golf Club. This time to raise funds for our own Firefighter Charity As the traveling teams registered for the team Stableford on Wednesday there was much foreboding talk of how difficult the pin positions would be for pairs day. The green keeping team had presented the course fantastically, and the weather forecasters promised a few good days. The practice round went smoothly, with a fund raising nearest the pin at the 10th hole. Just after filling up on bacon sandwiches and coffee. The first competition day pairs set off in glorious weather, as promised there where some outrageous pin positions but that didn’t stop some tremendous scoring on day1. As the tournament moved on to the singles on Friday, would the teams at the head of the leaderboard be able to hang on to their lead. As always there was tremendous, good will, banter, and camaraderie amongst all the competitors.
The prize presentation began with a welcoming speech from Sandmoor’s Club Captain Will Carpenter, who complemented you all on your good nature, competitive spirit and extended a warm welcome for us all to return at any time West Yorkshire’s Assistant Chief Nick Smith then thanked all the traveling players for another tremendous event. Thanking all those that took part, the organizing team, all the Sand Moor staff and the fantastic support of sponsorship from Stedair Then came the Prize presentation by main organiser Neil Spratt, assisted by Abby from the Competitions main sponsor Stedair.

The Yorkshire team would like to thank all those who again travelled from far and wide, to partake in the fun. All the Staff at Sand Moor Golf club, who looked after us superbly and the effort from each of the Brigade secretary’s, who keep these great events happening.
