Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Golf section are proud to host the
National Singles and Stableford Championship to be held at:
Royal Portrush Valley Links Golf Club
27th to the 29th of April 2026
Set on stunning natural seaside turf, the Valley is a full-length championship course that proudly hosts one of the two qualifying rounds for the North of Ireland Open Championship each year.
The natural hazards of the course present a stern test for low-handicap golfers, and accuracy is needed in approach shots to the small, cleverly sited greens.
The valley occupies a beautiful stretch of low-lying dunes and sandhills. It is situated between the big dunes of the Dunluce course and the primal dunes by the beach.
The land is perfect for links golf and is easy to walk.
The course will test the better golfer requiring accuracy off the tee but will reward the thinking golfer. The longer handicapper will also be able to manage their game and enjoy the course.
Remarkably there are only 18 bunkers on the course. The bumps, hollows, twists and turns in fairway, surrounded by gnarly rough negate the need for sand. Indeed you may not realise the dearth of fairways bunkering at all the greens are generally small and contoured to repel a wayward approach.
It was here that Graeme McDowell, Portrush’s Ryder Cup hero, U.S. Open Champion, and European Tour winner, honed the skills that would carry him to the world stage.
Today, the Valley continues to earn acclaim, consistently ranked among the top 40 golf courses in Ireland.
