Sherwood Forest Golf Club is one of the best Heathland courses in the midlands which is rated in the top 100 courses in Great Britain.
From the original Harry Colt layout, the course was re-designed in the 1920’s by James Baird, the well known Open champion and golf architect. Now, almost 100 years later Sherwood Forest remains true to its roots, with only minor alterations having subsequently taken place. We are fortunate enough to have a very experienced green keeping team, with almost 150 years service to the club, headed by Kim Kirkham.
Sherwood Forest is a true heathland course with challenging heather carries and fast but true greens which are amazing all year round. We are in the process of building a state of the art driving range and short game centre to add to our two large practice areas we presently have.
We regularly host leading amateur tournaments. England Golf’s amateur Seniors was played at Sherwood in 2018 and we look forward to the Brabazon Trophy coming to us in 2020.
Our friendly PGA Professional Stuart Betteridge and his team will help you with all your golfing needs for the day and if you find yourself forgetting to bring something to the course, he has a well stocked Pro- Shop.
The clubhouse offers panoramic views over the course from which you can see action on the 1st, 4th, 5th and 18th holes whilst enjoying our hospitality. There is a large dining area on the first floor for societies/ parties, again overlooking the course.
