*18 vs 18 — The Oldest Rivalry Renewed*
What a two days of golf.
In fantastic conditions — warm sunshine with a challenging breeze just to keep everyone honest — 36 players teed it up at Porters Park. The course was in amazing condition, and the greens were truly exceptional. Credit to the greenkeeping team.
Thank you to every single player who attended, and a massive thank you to Scotland for making the trip down. As always, the spirit in which this fixture is played is what makes it so special.
*Day 1 — Drama from the off*
Day 1 had everything, including the moment of the entire event — a *Hole in One* on the 200-yard Par 3 on Day One by Scotland's own *Craig MacLachlan!* A pure strike, straight into the heart of the green and straight in the hole. An incredible achievement that had both teams on their feet.
That magic moment aside, England came out firing and took a comfortable lead after Day 1:
*England 6.5 — 2.5 Scotland*
*Day 2 — All to play for*
With 18 points still up for grabs, it was all to play for on Day 2. Scotland came out fighting hard, as you would expect, and every match was fiercely contested.
But after a well-fought second day, England managed to get over the line:
*Final Result: England 19.5pts — 7.5pts Scotland*
Another amazing event contested by two old rivals. The golf was competitive, the banter was top class, but as always, friendship came out on top.
A special thank you to *Tony Lesley* for his 4-year captaincy — outstanding leadership and dedication to this fixture. A true legend of this event.
